Discovering

One of the most joyful moments of parenthood lately has been watching Tessa Jane discover something for the first time. Wade and I could sit and watch her check things out all day long. She looks very intently, reaches out for a touch, maybe a taste, looks to us for approval or for a go ahead, something that seems so ordinary or so insignificant to us, is to her extraordinary and captivating. That newness and innocence is a wonderful thing to watch. Her fascination becomes fascination for us as we watch her see, touch, or experience something for the very first time, a moment she won't remember, but lucky for us, will. She is such a little delight right now. Her facial expressions are so animated, her babbles and giggle keep us giggling and smiling. I find as we encounter each new stage or age I mourn a bit for the one we're leaving behind, knowing it will never come again. However, the next one in line proves equally if not more exciting for all 3 of us. Nine months is a good one.

A few weekends ago we took her to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. She loves animals and we thought it would be a fun time to take her, thinking she might really be into it. She LOVED it! We had so much fun watching her look at those fishies swimming around in a tank. She was awe struck. She liked to stand right up next to the tank, put her little hands on the glass and say, "Whoa, Whoa." Over and over. I could have sat there all day watching it. They Aquarium provided lots of opportunity to touch and feel. Tessa felt some new textures...anemones, starfish, Manta Rays. It was such a cool day, I can't wait to take her back.

The sound effect is just as you would imagine it to be!

And this little tidbit is just ridiculously interesting. Enjoy some more photo's of our outing below.

She's like a little sponge soaking it all up! Great photos; what a cutie. It looks like you guys are just living it up with Tessa. Love it.

The little wide eyed face is amazing! So fun that she can pick up on things and enjoy her surroundings more now. What a beautiful little girl you have. You guys look great as well...as always. Yeah, the blue whale facts were super interesting and a bit disturbing. I'm actually grateful for the little nine pound baby I gave birth to!
