West Coast is the Best Coast

Wade, Tessa and I ventured up the coast this past weekend to Santa Barbara for a little family getaway. It was lovely to spend time together and to see a new spot. A few highlights:

-Ojai. Wade and I learned about the town of Ojai in this random surf movie we saw several months ago. It's about 20 miles inland from Montecito (Sigh. Montecito. So dreamy), and since it was rainy Friday we decided to cruise up there and check it out. It was the most lovely, charming spot. I imagine the Garden of Eden would look similar, green and rolling, orange and avocado orchards, dirt trails leading to secret spots. A sweet little town, slow paced and good people. As soon as my buttons and t-shirts arrive I plan on throwing my campaign to move there into full motion. We went for a hike, strolled main street and grabbed lunch.

-Montecito. I'd really like to campaign to move to Montecito. It was breathtaking. But my last name isn't Winfrey, or Spielberg, or Kennedy, so I won't win. Always good to have something to dream about though right? You don't ever want to achieve ALL your dreams, then you would stop dreaming.

-An afternoon in the pool with Tessie. Her favorite part of the trip for sure. She laughed and splashed and fell into our arms off the side of the pool. We worked on creating all these new, fun experiences for her, but she really just loved the pool.

-Lunch with Jane. She's a lucky ducky and attends UCSB. We met for Thai food and had a great time chit chatting and catching up. She's cute as a button.

-The Rose Garden. They were pretty and smelled good.

-Walking with Tess. She is so into taking her steps lately. She is far from figuring out her balance and doing it on her own, but she loves us to hold her hands and do it with her. She gets so proud of herself, it's fun to watch.

-Donuts for breakfast. Everyday.
-Family run on the boardwalk.

-Watching this.

-Ventura. We stopped here on our way home hoping to find a sleepy, surf town with a great coastal vibe. We didn't. Ventura itself was a little disappointing, but we had a great walk on the beach and a great lunch before heading home. Tess however, seemed to find something worth writing home about.

-Just hanging out together. I know we can do that anywhere, but it's always a treat to do it somewhere new. We should do it more often.

Absolutely beautiful. It looks like a little European village. I love the picture of little lady standing in front of the railing. So precious.
