After a few days in Bar Harbor we headed down the Eastern Seaboard to the great New York City. Who doesn't love New York in the fall? It had been a few years since Wade and I had been there and it was great to be back. Wade insists we spent the ENNTIIRRRE time shopping, which we absolutely did not. One must shop while in NYC and we certainly did. As my dad said, buying lots of things we don't need. True. I like to think I was boosting consumer confidence. However, we filled our days with other NY greats too.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I always love to see the "greats", like Monet, Renoir, Pollack, Matisse and Rembrandt. However, this time they had an awesome photography exhibit entitled, "The Americans", that captured so well, just that. Everyday Americans, doing everyday things. Pay a visit if you're there.

The Guggenheim. I liked the Kadinsky exhibit, but I may have been the only one. If you're not one for Russian modern art, you could probably skip this one.
We also ate like Kings. Indian Kings, French Kings and Italian Royalty. I gained about 5 lbs. Fortunately (if you're an optimist) or unfortunately (if you're a realist) I lost it all while vomiting and curled in the fetal position on Tuesday.
We went to the theater, a NYC must. We saw South Pacific and loved it. The music was delightful, the lead cute as a button, and an underlying message that still holds all the strength and power that it would have during WW2.
And one night while strolling through Times Square we were met with the most wonderful surprise. It was opening night of the Metropolitan Opera and they had beemed it into Times Square via satellite. It was sooo cool! So loud and big and awesome. They had closed the streets down and brought in chairs, in which you could plop down and take advantage of the city's cultural elite.
We also spent some time in these...
which I don't mind actually. You learn a lot about the city and it's people sitting in the back of a cab.
We did some people watching. Wade and Denten did more than everyone else combined and I think left us all feeling like we wished we'd done some more. It is the worlds best place to watch people.
We missed our little one,it was the first time we had left her. We talked about her every day and were so excited to see her again. But we also loved staying out late, sleeping in and dictating our own schedule. We agreed that a trip with just the two of us was an absolute must at least once a year. An opportunity to "resurrect and reconnect" as my husband would say. It was great.

Looks like fun Katelyn! I can't get Josh excited about NYC, he fears the shopping will take over!! I'll keep workin' on him, because it looks like a blast (as does Maine, I might add!)
