It was to be a very exciting day!
Swim start. Can you feel the excitement in the air?
It looked crazy out there, and as Wade confirmed later, it was. He also said all the hoots, hollers and high fives at the start were pretty cool. My favorite moment here? After the gun went off and the announcer said, "We WILL see you at the finish line!"
Wade killed it in the swim. Off to the bike...
He killed it on the bike too.
He managed to ride smart, consistent and turn out negative splits.
After riding 112 miles he still had a marathon to run. He started out smiling and fast. Faster than anyone should be able to run after hopping off a bike. Into it 7 hours at this point.
He ran really strong. About 15 miles into the run Wade's stomach starting cramping. After they doubled him over, he'd pick up and start to run again. Yep, that's what we call an Ironman.
He perked up when he saw Tessa.
T had her cheer down by the day's end. A clap and prolonged, "Whoooo!" Snacks, cousins, grandparents and a nap got her through the day.
The cheering crowd: Mom and Dad Hunt, Mom Robinson, Mom Banks and Lindsay. AB, Coop, Senny, and Bex. T and I.

After 11 and 1/2 hours Wade entered the finishing chute to: "Wade Hunt from Laguna Niguel, California. YOU are an Ironman."
"That felt pretty good," he would later say.
