Proud

I was a proud mama last week. Just recently Tessa and three others (with the help of their mama's) started a little playgroup. Just an hour and half each week to fine tune their social skills, learn to share and take turns and all those other necessary social know-how's. Two of the kiddo's Tessa knows quite well and plays with often. The other was to be "new girl", so to speak. Tessa has never really played with her and I don't know that the others have either. Last Thursday was playgroup at our house and we practiced saying her name all morning. When she arrived Tessa was very friendly and said "Hi" and her name. After her mom left, the little gal was a little sad and understandably stand-offish and timid. Tessa ran around and played great with her two buddies she knows well but every once in a while, totally unprompted, she would walk over to her and give a "sof pat"(soft pat) and say, "Hi!, Hi!". I even heard a "mon, mon" (c'mon, c'mon) once or twice. I couldn't help but smile and beam with pride. She seemed to know this little girl was both new and frightened and she seemed to really go out of her way to be friendly and welcoming. I of course praised her every time and told her, "That was so nice Tessa! Good girl!". And told her a few more times with a few more kisses throughout the day. I called Wade and let him know how sweet our little was and then I spent the rest of the day hoping T will exhibit such behavior her whole life. I hope desperately, as all parents so, that Tessa is never the one left out, made fun of, teased, or anything of the sort. But just as desperately, I hope she is never the one participating in the leaving out, making fun or teasing and instead remains the friendly, welcoming, sweet girl that she exhibited last week. Good job baby girl.

Sounds like Tessa has been quietly watching her mom and dad. As they say, "Monkey see, monkey do" Good job parenting! Sweet little Tessa-bug.
