Twinkle Toes

Tessa-rina Ballerina had her "Big Show" (as we were all calling it the few weeks prior) the first weekend in June. She had been ooogaling that costume hanging in the closet since it arrived in April. FINALLY!!

How did we get here I kept thinking? Just yesterday I was rocking her to sleep in the rocking chair, and now I am rolling up curlers for her "Big Show", oh, my little Tessie baby.

Right after the application of lipstick and right before I took her backstage. Is she the cutest dang two year old you ever saw in your life? And how about that costume? Wow! Is that what you're thinking? Well, ooh and ah and soak in every last feather and sequin, they cost about a dollar each.

Mom, Dad and Bode getting ready to watch "Little Tap Shoes."

I had wondered if she would be nervous at all when walking out, being on a stage and seeing the crowd. But she tapped away like she was made for the stage, singing along, and remembering her steps. Wade and I couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces.

Toting the flowers she got from her daddy...

T and Miss Christy. Tessa IDOLIZES Miss Christy. She talks about her all the time and mimics her at home, telling me, "I, be Miss Christy and you be the dancer, ok?" And we have dance class.

Her cheering section. We were so glad Gram could come out and occupy one of the minimum of 5 required purchased tickets. Seriously. But I must say, it was worth the trip. And every penny. It was the cutest thing since kingdom come. Her dad and I have loved watching her enjoy and excel at ballet and tap. It was something we ventured to do in November to give her something of her own, something special just she was doing, and something she could own once a baby brother came along. She took to it so quickly and dare I say, is amoung the best in her class. The recital was a great cullmination. We were happy and proud parents. It will be interesting to see if this will be a passing hobby as a little girl, or if we'll be doing this every spring for years to come. Way to go T-bug.

(No video'ing allowed, bummer! We have to buy the DVD that costs $30.)

Love it. Get ready for more than just spring performances...I think we got a serious one here folks. She is a doll. I still can't believe at just shy of 3 she can get out there and do her thing. Viv needs Tessa to teach her a thing or two...now if only we could get that lil Viv her already. Congrats to Tessa.

oh, I was just going to ask for a video! you are forking out a million dollars, but look at her- it's totally worth it. she's got to be a natural considering her daddy's dancing skills. actually, as I recall, you were the best among us. congrat, T-bug!! can't wait for my in-person performance!

i can hardly stand how cute she is! All those ruffles and sequins and that red lipstick on her teensy lips! Such a tiny doll. It's so sweet that she loves it so much. it's got to be the best to see her just shine in something. How fun!
