The things she says…

About a month a go our family attended the baptism a newly converted family. It was a sweet and special night. When the baptisms were ready to take place, they invited the children up to the front to get a closer view. Tessa wanted to go, but not without me. We headed to the front along with this newly converted family’s youngest son, to young to be baptized. After each member of his family was “dunked” shall we say, he would throw his head back and laugh and exclaim, “Mom! You just got dunked!” This continued with each family member, by the time they reached his brother, he had moved to a forewarning.  “Watch out! They’re going to dunk you!” It was hysterical. Tessa was watching this all play out very carefully. When the baptisms were complete, we turned and walked back to our seats. Tessa turns to me and says very seriously, “Mom, I am NOT going to get dumped!!!” Fast forward to last weekend when we attended another baptism of a good friend. Tessa watched intently, but without comment. Tonight, I was getting kids out of the tub, had Bode on a towel in my lap cutting fingernails and I hear Tessa behind me, still in the tub. “Come on Mermaid Barbie, I am going to baptize you. In the name of my father and my son. Amen.” Full immersion. I was trying to hold back my chuckles when she says, “Mom, do you want me to baptize Bode?” Maybe some other time. Just what we need, Bode being baptized my immersion.

And prior to getting ready for bed, she was asked to pick up the disaster her and her friend made in her bedroom today. I was in there helping and politely offering suggestions as to where things might go. “Mom! You are driving me crazy! Do you understand that? Just crazy!” Dad walks in after putting Bode down next door, “Dad! Mom is driving me crazy!” I have no idea where she might have the heard the phrase, “You are driving me crazy!”

She makes up the best parts of my day no doubt. Assured you are that she is still hilarious. She is also still ridiculously cute. And so is her brother.

Lily and Pasha (or so I was told) all gussied up.  Playing in the rain with dad. They even had boat races down the gutter.
