Dancing Kitty

There are three things that Tessa really loves in this world. Dancing, fancy costumes and ‘show lipstick’ i.e. bright red lipstick that can only be worn for and at dance recitals. So when her dance recital came up mid-June she could barely talk about anything else. Watching her dance in her ‘big show’, made me at least as happy as she was actually doing it. She really, really loves to dance and I really, really love watching her do something she loves so much.

Tessa has lots of little friends from our neighborhood, ward and stake that also dance at the same studio. It was so darling to watch all the little girls in all their little dance numbers. Olive is her good friend from across the street, these two together are as girly and fancy as you can get.

It was fun to have grandma along and to celebrate with an ice cream sundae at Farrell’s after. Tess was the best kitty in the show.
And if you're wondering if I cried because her dad wasn't there. I did.
Ever since we sold our dining room table, she’s had her own personal dance studio. Every night before bed, and once or twice more during the day she’ll ask to borrow my phone. She’ll find Pandora, turn on some tunes and dance. She’s always coming up with new moves, wanting me to see the moves and to dance with her. We’ll take turns making up moves, then the other one tries them. She impresses me with her choreography sometimes and other times makes me laugh inside. I couldn’t allow myself to fully commit to Saudi until I knew there would opportunities for Tessa to take dance lessons somewhere. Even if we have to travel an hour each way once a week. This girl has got to dance.
