Around Christmas time, Bode’s little ears started draining gross stuff. We’d had tubes out and adenoids in a few months before leaving the States in hopes it would eliminate the ear infections that had plagued the Bodester. They did their job, until December. Pfffttt. I got one out of the hospital just in time to send another one in. After a couple rounds of anti-biotics, it was determined the old tubes were completely blocked/clogged and they needed to come out and be replaced before permanent damage settled in, potentially causing a hearing loss. We made sure dad would be town and then scheduled the surgery. After two hours, loads of cleaning up, the removal of lots of scar tissue, the insertion of new tubes and the shaving down of the tonsils, Bode came too. He was cantankerous, funny and ready to take down some juice pops.
Prep.
Waking up.
We were discharged after a long, full day at Al-Zahra Hospital, our home away from home. I feel like we’re on a first name basis with 1/2 the staff. While I’m bloody tired of that place, I left that day grateful once again for the miracle of modern medicine and the access we have to it. And for our Heavenly Father’s mercy that continues to pour down on the Hunt’s. Bode’s follow-ups have been positive and we are hopeful that our relationship with Dr. Levente will soon be coming to a close. We are also now confident that Bode can indeed hear and is in fact just ignoring us.
Bode and I went on a date a few days later to celebrate his quick recovery. He picked out some ice cream and a hard hat. And I called Dr. Levente to see if hyperactivity could be a side effect of the pain meds.

So glad he is doing better, the selective hearing and hyperactivity sound all to familiar. BOYS!
