We returned home to Dubai and started sleeping through the night again just in time for Grandma and Granddaddy to come visit. They were nice enough to make a stop over in Dubai (that's really not a stop over at all) from South Africa on their way home to the US.
We had a great time getting reacquainted, hearing about their mission and hitting the Dubai highlights. Burj Khalifa, dinner at Madinat, and a trip to Abu Dhabi for the pool, Grand Mosque and Falcon Hospital. Grandma even treated Tess and I to mani's and pedi's.

The Grand Mosque always puts on a good show at dusk. And I love this photo Wade captured of me walking my three littles into the mosque. I hope they'll remember this part of me when looking back on our families time here in the Middle East. The part of me that loves this part of the world and wants to share it with them. The part of me that wants to drive home how important it is to educate ourselves and respect others when it comes to beliefs that our different than ours. And not the part of me that is bloodshot crazy eyes from sleepless nights, traveling spouse and the Mid-East culture.

Did you know falcons can fly up to 250 mph? And that they kill their prey 99% of the time by breaking their back, as you would if you hit someone going 250 mph! Falcons are a huge part of the culture and heritage here in the UAE. For many years, Bedouin's used falcons for hunting their food.
It was so fun to have them here with us. Maybe someday we'll get them back again when it's not so bloody hot.
