We celebrated on Thursday night after the dads got home from work and after the kids finished at school. I baked rolls all blessed day and taste tested the honey butter in between batches. We cooked a turkey in our British neighbors oven (loads of available ovens when you have nary an American neighbor) and then several of us gathered in the Bates home to enjoy a delicious meal prepared by several hands. We looked like the UN all sitting down to turkey dinner, America, Great Britain, China, Egypt, Spain, the Philippines, Finland. Thanksgivings in Dubai look a great deal different than those of yesteryear, but I've got to say, I don't think I would have it any other way. The first Thanksgiving was about bringing people together to celebrate commonalities and differences and this year, we did just that.
