Soul Satisfying Weekends

We've been lucky enough to spend some weekends this spring with our dearest of dear friends. The days were filled with laughter, thought provoking discussion and new memory making all resulting in the soul feeling all filled up until next time!

Road trip to Old Nauvoo!

Last weekend Billy and Heather flew out to St. Louis on a business trip of sorts with the intent of spending the weekend in Nauvoo. We happily joined them for the road trip. We were glad we finally took the opportunity to visit those church sites before we left the Midwest and the fact that we got to do it with Billy and Heath, icing on the cake. My stomach is still recovering from all the laughing.

We stopped at Carthage Jail first, the site where the prophet Joseph Smith was executed. This was the most moving site for me. It left me extraordinarily grateful for the sacrifice of those early saints and really in awe of the level of faith they had. I walked away committed to having the same conviction.

We made a stop at the DQ for lunch...Wade and Heather enjoying the dipped cones in many different ways... Billy and I simultaneously walked into the DQ acting as if we had no association with "those people" whatsoever.

Next stop: The Nauvoo temple and the town of Old Nauvoo! The temple was really, really beautiful, I wished we had planned better and been able to go inside. The flowers were exquisite. Those Mormons always seem to get their tulips right!

You always learn new things about your friends when in the car for hours. Most of which will keep us all chuckling for years to come.

Gosh, we miss them immensely!

Boston

We flew to Boston a few weekends ago to visit Dan & Kelly. We'd been dying to see their new town and meet Henry, the new babe and future husband of Baby H. Look at little Henry, won't he make the cutest little friend?

We started the weekend off with a trip to Fenway Park... a true American tradition! While it was a bit drizzly, we loved the chance to see the Sox head off against the Yankees. The fans at Fenway fulfill every stereotype you've heard about Boston. They are loud, accents right on point and colorful and totally politically incorrect language, which under normal circumstances would have been offensive, but in a genuine "Southy" accent, pretty hilarious.

We spent one afternoon seeing the "musts" when visiting Boston, like Harvard Square, the building where the Constitution was signed and Mike's Pastry's (little did I know this was a must, but wow, it is definitely a must!)

To summarize simply, the weekend was the just the best.

Boston is wicked awesome don't you think?!! Its Kyle's fav spot out here... we are just a wee hour and 45 minutes south! Kyle has also become a crazy Sox fan and Ben already has 3 Red Sox outfits even though he knows I despise sports gear... except for UTAH stuff... its a must.

We don't get to Boston as much as Kyle would like because when we have a free day I always win and we go to NYC. Boston is cool but there is no topping NYC!!

Looks like you had some fun weekends! I just love a good trip! Hope you and the babe in the belly are doing good! :)
