Mid-November, me and some of my besties headed northward. Santa Barbara seems to be our destination of choice when a half-marathon/girls weekend duo calls. Loads of friends from our ward were participating in the Santa Barbara marathon and half-marathon, that's what happens when there is actually a race on Saturday, the Mormons descend. It made for a fun-filled weekend.
Friday night we dined a delicious dinner. It was pouring rain, and more pouring rain was forecasted for the following morning when we would be standing around waiting for a race to start. But we braved the rain for carbs, steamers and Lulu. We're hard core. Then we headed home to analyze which outfit combination would be best suited for wet weather. We taped up our Garmins in ziplock bags, decided on shorts-wet legs we determined were better than wet pants, and hydrated. We headed to bed listening to pouring rain and drifted to sleep. We woke the next morning and decided that the only major bummer to race/girls weekend duo's is that it inhibits any sort of sleeping in. We got over that though because it was dry! No rain, overcast but no rain. The race Gods had smiled upon us.
We ran a great race. The weather stayed clear and cool and just right. I ran most of the race with T. I have missed by running partner since she left me for Nor Cal. Even if we quit talking around mile 5, it's just good to have her next to me. I do have a few complaints about the course, but I'll keep them to myself. I also felt my blister explode about mile 10 right at the bottom of a monster hill. Blood through the shoe is a new level of ridiculous, even for me.
We returned to the hotel for showers, then hit State for food and shopping. I learned something new about Diana. She can shop me into the freaking ground. We had a great time. Buster manned the fort at home. I came home to a clean, quiet and sleeping house. He is the best. I can hardly wait for Ragnar. Or can I? There goes another weekend away with no sleep!

I'm so jealous...of the shopping and carb part!
This is Boogs. Who'd a thunk it? you've been out of high school for a long time now, and you still have hot friends. Huh.
This is the real Tutz. Sounds like a fun time. That Buster is a champ, isn't he? I have been working on your blister problem. I am determined to find a solution for your poor little feet!
ps. who's the dude in the last pic?
Boogs comment...dying. Mom using the word...dude. dying.
That is one bloody shoe and some serious dedication! Other than that, looks like a great time with the girls. What a fun tradition!
